The  Independent National Electoral Commission [INEC[  has said only
11 card readers malfunctioned during the Ondo governorship election
held held on Saturday.
INEC Director of voter Education and Publicity  Nick Dazang  made this
disclosure in Abuja in response to Ondo Governor  Olusagun Mimiko
allegations that  faulty card readers that flooded the state during
the election marred the process and the results of the election.
The  News Agency of Nigeria [NAN]  quoted Nick Dazang as saying ‘the
election is generally peacefull, we were  able to open at all polling
units even in places that have challenges of terrain including ILAJE
area’,  ‘the election was peaceful courtesy of the security agencies
even though we had some  smart card readers failures, they were only
11 not up to one percent  of the total number deployed, the percentage
is  infinitesimal’.
Dazang also said that the commission acted  immediately to  resolve
the problem where it  was reported. He further  noted that the card
reader of the polling units where  Jegede voted  failed but was
replaced immediately.
He also denied reports that the election results was manipulated  to
favour  the candidate of All Progressives Congress [APC].
