Two robbers of a four-man armed gang were reportedly shot dead by
operatives of Edo State police command on Friday.
The robbers were said to have met their waterloo after they
successful shot an unidentified customer of a new generation bank on
the lap and dispossessed him of his #500,000 around
It was gathered that the hoodlums had trailed their victim from
neigbouring Delta State to the Bank where he had gone to make
withdrawal to buy a car.
A witness who craved for anonymity said: “unknown to the victim, they
(robbers) had followed him into the banking hall and later struck at
the gate.
“After hitting their target and robbing him of the cash, the armed men
who came with a Toyota Camry car Marked; Abuja started shooting into
the air to scare people away,” the witness added.
It was however learnt that luck ran out of the robbers when men of
Operation Thunder Storm- a team set up by the State Police Command to
regularly patrol the metropolis rammed into the scene.
The police operatives were said to have given the robbers a hot
chase; during which two of them were reportedly shot dead around
Evbuomore Community along Uselu-Lagos road.
Another member of the gang was reportedly apprehended while one other escaped.
At the time of filing this report, it was learnt that the police has
launched a manhunt for the fleeing member of the gang.
Contacted for reaction, the State Police image maker, DSP Moses Nkombe
said he would seek clearance from the commissioner before commenting
on the incident.
