The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has held an emergency security meeting to ensure normalcy returns to Abuja after protests by #EndSARS group degenerated to violence which claimed at least five lives and destroyed properties.
Minister of FCT, Malam Musa Bello, who chaired the meeting in his opening remarks said the meeting will “review the traumatic incidents of the past one week” with a view to ensuring normalcy returns and what happened does not happen again.
He urged the stakeholders who included area council chairmen, religious leaders, traditional rulers, market unions leaders and security agencies to forge a united front to protect lives and property, livelihoods and ensure peace returns to the capital city.
“Our primary goal is to save lives and property and safeguard livelihoods. So we are here to ensure normalcy returns and what happened is not allowed to happen again,” he said.
Bello who commisurated with those who lost loved ones, got injured in the crisis which raged in Apo, Waru, Wumba and Dutsen Alhaji, also acknowledged the efforts of security agencies and other stakeholders in maintaining peace in the city.
