The National Industrial Court sitting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state has nullify the decision of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State on sacked permanent secretaries in the state on 2015.
Wike on assumption of office in 2015 ordered for the sack of eight permenent secretaries and others from the state civil service.
The Permanent secretaries including; Samuel Woka, Kadilo Brown, Augustine Orlu-Orlu, Muka Nwikosi, Minabelema Michael-West, Ngozi Abu, Kingsley Hart and Mrs Justina Jumbo.
Others were; the state Head of Service, Accountant General and others appointed by the previous government.
Feel dissatisfied with the governor’s decision, the sacked civil servants instituted legal action against the Rivers State Government at the National Industrial Court sitting in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Justice Basha Alkali of the National Industrial Court, while delivering the judgement on Friday described the sacked as unconsitutional, null and void, since it did not follow the set down procedures in the public service.
He said: “The sack was in contravention of the civil service rules and therefore unlawful.
“The court hereby ordered that all salaries and allowances accrued to the permanent secretaries since 2015 be paid to them.” He said.
Counsel to the claimants, Odum Eyiba described the judgement as well-considered.
Counsel to Rivers state government, Henry Amadi said that since the court has given the judgement, they will go through the judgement in order to take approximate action.
