The Minister of State for Petroleum, Chief Timipre Sylva has expressed the Federal Government’s determination to eradicating the smuggling of Petroleum Products accross the Nigerian borders
The Minister , while declaring open the 9th Practical Nigerian Content (PNC) organized by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state on Tuesday, hinted that the priority areas of his ministry, includes; the completion of gas flare commercialization and reduction of the cost of crude oil production by at least 5%.
He commended the management of the NCDMB, under the leadership of the Executive Secretary, Engr. Simbi Wabote and the International Oil Companies (IOCs) operating in the country for creating the platform on yearly basis to discuss and proffer solutions to some problems confronting the oil sector. He said: “The Ministry of Petroleum under my watch, is focused to ensure the passage of the petroleum industry bill, increase of domestic refining capacity and implementation of the amended deep offshore and the production schedule acts.
“The key outcome of the priority areas will be job creation, poverty eradication which have been cardinal aspiration of the next level agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government.
“Let me reassure our partners and stakeholders of our commitments to the promotion of a fair and roburse business environment for the private sector involvement and growth in the oil scto.
“With the theme of the workshop which is ‘Leveraging the local expertise for market growth and expansion’ the practical Nigerian Content provide the opportunity for policy makers, captain of industries and various stakeholders across the entire oil and gas value change to convene and discuss in higher level and find solutions to most important issues surrounding the Nigerian Content implementation.
“It further provide the opportunity to discuss the keys to unlock the industry’s potential through effective Nigerian Content development.” He said.
