The new service chiefs in Edo State have been charged to join forces with
the Palace and Edo State Government to tackle the security challenges
confronting the people.
The charge was given by His Royal Majesty, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo,
Ewuare II, Oba of Benin when he received separately the new Commander of
the 4-Brigade Nigeria Army, Benin City, Brigadier-General Greg Osamwonyi
Omorogbe, the new Commissioner of Police, Mr. Akeem Odumosun and the Flight
Commander of the 107 Air Maritime Group, Benin City, Mr. Fatai Ayinla
Ganiyu in his Palace.
Addressing the 4-Brigade Commander, Omo N’Oba expresses delight that the
first Edo man has been posted to the Brigade, and prayed God and the
ancestors to guide and protect him, while assuring of Palace support at all
time.
Brigadier-General Omorogbe said he was in the Palace to introduce himself
to the Oba as well as solicit for Royal blessings and support to enable him
succeed in his new assignment.
He promised to join forces with the Oba of Benin to secure the Kingdom and
protect the people from criminals.
The Benin Monarch reminded the new Commissioner of Police, Mr. Odumosun
that this year is critical in the history of Nigeria because of the 2019
general elections, and urged him to put his experiences to bear on the job,
and not be partial, but be diligent on the job.
While commending the former Commissioner of Police, Babatunde Kokumo for
doing a good job and for always consulting with the Palace, the Oba of
Benin enjoined the new Commissioner of Police to emulate his predecessor
and assured him of the necessary support in order to succeed.
The Commissioner of Police, Akeem Odumosun promised to be loyal and remain
dedicated to his duties, pointing out that he would ensure that officers
and men of the command do their job within the ambit of the law.
He solicited the support and cooperation of the Palace in the successful
discharge of his duties.
The former Commissioner of Police, Johnson Babatunde Kokumo thanked His
Royal Majesty for the support and prayers which he said was responsible for
his success and appealed for such hands of fellowship to be extended to his
successor.
Addressing the Flight Commander of 107 Air Maritime Group, the Omo N’Oba
assured him that the Palace would look into his requests, especially that
of the Air Force land in dispute in some communities in the Kingdom.
The Benin Monarch expresses concern over the absence of Air Force Secondary
School in Benin City, despite the allocation of land for that purpose.
The Flight Commander of the 107 Air Maritime Group, Benin City, Fatai
Ayinla Ganiyu thanked the Oba of Benin for his assistance to the Air Force
over the years, and promised to assist in making Edo State a crime-free
state.
He drew Oba Ewuare II attention to the problems surrounding Air Force land
in some communities in the Kingdom, especially Egor, and appealed for the
Oba’s intervention.
