Former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience, reportedly
led a very large delegation of former governors as well as other
political office holders to Minna, Niger state on Friday, May 12 to
grace the wedding ceremony of Halima, the daughter of former military
ruler, Ibrahim Babangida.
The former president sat next to his political rival and national
leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola
Tinubu.
Halima is getting married to Auwal Lawal Abdullai who is the Sarkin
Sudan of Gombe.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the wedding ceremony
which was to commence at 11:30 am was yet to hold at 1:50 pm.
According to the report, those present at the ceremony include Alhaji
Namadi Sambo, Alhaji Ahmed Makarfi, the chairman of a faction of the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP); Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, the former
governor of Sokoto state and Alhaji Shinkafi Mamudu, the former
governor of Zamafara. Others seen at the ceremony include Isa Yuguda,
former governor of Bauchi state; Sule Lamido, former governor of
Jigawa; Ibrahim Shema, former governor of Kastina; Alhaji Abubakar
Dakingari, former governor of Kebbi and Abubakar Musa, another former
governor of Kebbi.
Also in attendance are Pius Anyim Pius, a former Secretary to the
Government of the Federation (SGF); Justice Idris Kutigi, a former
Chief Justice of the Federation (CJN), Alhaji Ahmed Yayale, former
SGF; General Magoro, Senator Ben Obi, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce, Air
Vice Marshal Ibrahim Haruna and Alhaji Sani Zango Daura. The report
added that top Nigerian businessman, Aliko Dangote and Mr Mark
Snoxell, the managing director of Dornier Aircraft were at the event.
General Aliyu Gusau, who served several times as National Security
Adviser; Dr Okwezili Nwodo, former PDP national secretary; Alhaji
Modibo, former FCT minister, Oba Hamid Adekunle, Oluwo Kuta were also
in attendance.
Air Marshall Hamza Abdullahi, Gen Garba Duba, Sen Aliyu Wamakko, Sen
Yarima Abdullahi, Sen Rabiu Kwankwaso, Sen Nuhu Aliyu, a former
police, attended the event.
The report said IBB, who recently returned from Germany where he went
to seek medical attention, would give Halima’s hand out in marriage to
the Sarki Sudan of Gombe.
