The Rivers State chapter of  All Progressives Conference  [APC]  has
condemned the announcement of  Jerome Eke  of the Peoples Democratic
Party [PDP]  as winner of the Saturday’s  supplementary re run
Etche/ Omuma  Federal Constituency  constituency  election.
THE party said this is because the election had earlier been declared
inconclusive  by the Returning Officer  Professor Olatunbosun Odusanya
and Professor  Omotola respectively
The party spoke through the state Publicity Secretary Warisenibo Chris
Fine face said the it was taken aback that despite the
inconclusiveness  the National Electoral Commissioner in charge  Mrs
MAY Agbamuche  Mbu  ordered that the result  be declared.
It said ‘it is pertinent to remind  INEC  that in line with the
relevant  section of the Electoral Act 2010 it is only the  Returning
Officers  that are empowered to announce results of elections and not
the Resident Electoral Commissioner or any other.’
The APC  strongle urges INEC  not to go ahead to declare results  it
had earlier announced as inconclusive  as doing that will signpost a
gross violation of its own rules and demonstrate the height of
inconsistency  and illegality on the part of the commission.
INEC has already announced PDP as the winner of the election both for
the  Etche/Omuma  Federal constituency and the state constituency 2.
