The Nigeria Customs Service Eastern Marine Command Port Harcourt
and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps [NSCDC] are to
synergise for effective performance in the discharge of their duties
in the state.
This synergy followed the courtesy call by the new commandant of
the NSCDC Mohammed Haruna to the Comptroller Eastern Maritime
Command Usman Kankara Bello .
During the courtesy call the two Federal Agencies emphasized the need
for information sharing between the two especially in the Riverine
areas of the state with a view to checkmating the activities of
Smugglers, Pirates , Pipeline Vandals and other nefarious activities
of criminals in the state.
Comptroller Bello warmly welcomed commandant Haruna to River state
and congratulated him in his new appointments wishing him a
successful tenure.
Bello also used the opportunity to condole and commiserate with him
over the death of NSCDC officers who were killed by criminals in
the Riverine area of the state and advised the officers not to be
deterred by the death but to continue to discharge their duties
effectively.
Responding the Commandant expressed his gratitude and appreciation
for the warm reception by the customs comptroller and the condolence
message sent to him on the death of the four NSCDC officers killed
in line of duty.
At the end of the courtesy visit Comptroller Bello presented a
plaque to the Commandant of the NSCDC.
